Great, informative posting, Matt!

I just stumbled on your site and I am very impressed with your free info. As a newbie to Adwords, I am on a steep learning curve and looking for the right information. I think what you said made sense, and that's more than I can say for a lot of what I'm finding out there.

Thank you. (:-)]

No, Adwords does not suck. I have found in my 1 year with adwords that there is a steep learning curve and yes you will lose some money during this period.
However once you have learned the ropes, adwords is a reasonable source of income.
I think currently, people's expectations are really high based on historical results from a few years ago.
The market now is more competitive and quite aturated so one has to work harder to make a profit

ok, I'll give you that. They can be annoying from time to time, lol... ;) I'm not saying I have never had an issue and felt pain in the 4 years I've advertised with them..

That does sound strange.. were you using your own landing page then promoting the same site as these other ads? Or different merchants?

I agree Adwords doesn't suck, but I think their customer service does.
My latest difficulty with them was two weeks ago. I had 4 ads disapproved due to the site's content. I can accept that, no problem. But I did a search using each site's name and 3 of the 4 sites showed affiliate Adwords ads.
I pointed this out to customer service and a week later the ads were still there.
Not a big deal, but it is annoying.
